For four years the Women’s Business Center of Utah organized the Foodtrepreneur Festival to celebrate food entrepreneurs and foodies. The festival comprised a combination of local food vendors, live music, a panel discussion and the opportunity to sample delicious food while talking to entrepreneurs who created the delectable bites.
Due to the rapid growth of the festival and an all new WBCUtah food-loving team, we decided to reinvent Foodtrepreneur with a new name and a new mission. This year’s festival, Recipe for Success, will last three days! Why three? Because we realized we couldn’t possibly squeeze everything we wanted to do into one day. Where Foodtrepreneur focused broadly on Salt Lake City’s culinary scene, Recipe for Success will focus specifically on women entrepreneurs.
It is an exciting time for food entrepreneurship in Salt Lake City. Companies that start here are gaining national attention, and the economic and cultural impact of this local food movement is both exhilarating and important for the continued growth of Salt Lake City as a cultural and entrepreneurship hub. People have never been more engaged or motivated about where their food comes from, and the stories and visionaries behind it.
