Mark your calendars for the USDC Annual Meeting scheduled for Friday, March 20 at the Zions Bank Founders Room. We will welcome the fabulous, Chris Redgrave, who will be speaking to us on the Power of Positivity.
Due to scheduling issues with the company, our February meeting at Autoliv is scheduled a week earlier on February 12, 2015. We will be visiting the Ogden plant located at 1000 West 3300 South in Ogden, Utah. There is only space for 30 USDC members to attend this meeting.
Announcing the January 2015 monthly USDC meeting. On Thursday, January 22, you will have the opportunity to do some speed contacting with some of the biggest company names in Utah. Instead of listening to a presentation this month, you will have 10 minutes to share information with a company that you have always wanted to work with. Break. Repeat.
Can you believe that 2014 is almost in the record books? At USDC, we have had a wonderful year, filled with great meetings and wonderful opportunities for you to meet with some of the larger government contractors. We ended our year at Northrup Grumman, but had successful meetings at other companies such as ATK, IHC, Excelcius, and Triumph Gear Systems.
Small business lending activity under the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) 7(a) Loan Guaranty Program reached another nationwide record in Fiscal Year 2014 – the period Oct. 1, 2013 - Sept. 30, 2014. SBA Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet announced that the agency approved 52,044 7(a) loans for $19.19 billion, an increase of 12 percent in number of loans and a 7.4 percent in dollar amount over Fiscal Year 2013. In Utah, SBA District Director Stan Nakano reported a Fiscal Year 2014 total of 1,252 7(a) and 504 loans, worth $480 million, surpassing the previous year’s record level by approximately $72 million.
SBA, the Department of Health Human and Services, and Small Business Majority have teamed up for a free weekly webinar series where small employers can learn the basics of the Affordable Care Act and what it means for their organization and employees. Topics covered include cost containment, the Small Business Health Care Tax Credit, the new Health Insurance Marketplace, and Employer Shared Responsibility.
